Legendary Pokémon Arrive in Pokémon GO
Black and White Kyurem's Grand Entrance
Following the December 2024 announcement of the February 2025 Unova Tour, Niantic has revealed the exciting addition of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta.
From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees of the in-person events in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, will have the unique opportunity to catch and fuse Kyurem into its powerful Black and White forms. To begin, players must defeat either Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids to obtain the base Kyurem.
Once you've caught Kyurem, the fusion process begins! Choose your path: fuse with Zekrom for Black Kyurem, or Reshiram for White Kyurem. Fusion unlocks devastating new attacks: Freeze Shock (Black Kyurem) and Ice Burn (White Kyurem). Here's the breakdown of fusion requirements:
- Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy
- White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy
Earn Fusion Energy by conquering Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversion to the base Kyurem form is free, requiring no energy or candy. Plus, enjoy increased Shiny rates for Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom during the event!
For those unable to attend the in-person events, the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global event runs from March 1st to 2nd, 2025. This global event is free for all players!
Meloetta, the Melody Pokémon, Joins the Celebration!
Adding to the excitement, Shiny Meloetta makes its Pokémon GO debut! In-person event ticket holders can complete a Masterwork Research to encounter this captivating Pokémon. Don't worry about time constraints; the Masterwork Research doesn't expire.
Iconic Legendaries from Pokémon Black and White 2
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon games set in the Unova region. The Tao Trio (Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom) are encountered later in the main storyline, with Meloetta obtained upon completion. Pokémon Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, which, like their Pokémon GO counterparts, learn Ice Burn and Freeze Shock.
With the arrival of the Tao Trio's alternate forms in Pokémon GO, trainers can finally experience the full wonder of Unova! Don't miss this limited-time opportunity!
