Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles Gets Playable Jar Jar Binks and More!
Aspyr has unveiled a surprising playable character for the upcoming re-release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles: Jar Jar Binks! A new trailer showcases the Gungan wielding a large staff in action. This isn't the only new addition; Aspyr has revealed nine other new playable characters, with more to come.
The 2000 release of Jedi Power Battles featured beloved characters and locations from Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. This updated version aims to recapture that nostalgia while adding exciting new content. Along with customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support, players will enjoy a significantly expanded roster. Jar Jar Binks is the latest character revealed, but certainly not the least surprising.
The announcement trailer shows Jar Jar engaging enemies with his staff, accompanied by his characteristically chaotic dialogue. While some fans might have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding version, this Jar Jar sticks to his staff. He'll be playable when Jedi Power Battles launches on January 23rd, and pre-orders are already open.
New Playable Characters Revealed:
- Jar Jar Binks
- Rodian
- Flame Droid
- Gungan Guard
- Destroyer Droid
- Ishi Tib
- Rifle Droid
- Staff Tusken Raider
- Weequay
- Mercenary
Aspyr is significantly expanding the playable character lineup for this re-release. In addition to Jar Jar Binks and the Gungan Guard, nine other characters have been revealed, with more promised. This diverse group includes familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, along with several droid types.
With the launch of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles just weeks away, fans can soon experience these new additions firsthand. Aspyr's experience with other classic Star Wars game updates, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, offers hope that Jedi Power Battles will deliver the satisfying nostalgic experience fans crave.
