Assassin's Creed Shadows: One Protagonist Is Enough, Says Lead Developer
Concerns have arisen among fans of Assassin's Creed Shadows regarding the game's dual protagonists: Naoe, a female shinobi, and Yasuke, a historical African samurai. Some worried that focusing on a single character would lead to missing crucial story elements or gameplay.
Creative director Jonathan Dumont has allayed these fears. While acknowledging that each protagonist boasts unique introductory sequences and personal storylines, he confirmed that the game's narrative adapts to the player's chosen character. Dumont himself employs a balanced approach, switching between Naoe and Yasuke in roughly equal playtime.
His statement clarifies that players won't significantly miss out on content by focusing on just one character: "I don’t believe you’ll miss out on a lot. It really comes down to your personal playstyle. Each hero has their own unique introductions and dedicated questlines, but the core experience is flexible. You can choose your favorite, and the narrative will adapt accordingly." This assures players that their preferred playstyle won't hinder their overall game experience.
