Larian Studios has launched a Stress Test update to prepare for the monumental Patch 8 of Baldur's Gate 3. Dive into the details of the stress test and what to expect from Patch 8.
Patch 8 Stress Test Update 1 Arrives With Bug Fixes
Only Available To Testers
Larian Studios has released an update to the Patch 8 Stress Test build, addressing numerous bugs, crashes, and scripting errors, ensuring that Gale correctly consumes magical items as intended. This update is exclusively available to those participating in the Patch 8 stress test, who can download it on their designated consoles. Players not involved in the testing phase will need to wait for the full release of the patch to experience the new enhancements and content.
Key improvements in this update include containers retaining their contents when destroyed within inventories, enhanced screenshot capabilities in Photo Mode for Steam Deck users, more responsive poses, improved cross-play functionality, updated Booming Blade tooltip values, and several crash fixes. For a detailed list of these updates, visit the official Baldur's Gate 3 website's news section.
As one of the final major feature-rich updates before Larian bids farewell to Faerûn, Patch 8 promises to be a substantial release, necessitating thorough stress testing. It introduces platform cross-play, over 12 new subclasses including the Death Domain Cleric, Path of Giants Barbarian, and Arcane Archer Fighter, along with the eagerly awaited Photo Mode.
Photo Mode Is As Customizable As It Can Be
While awaiting the official release of Patch 8, players can explore an in-depth sneak peek video showcasing the full potential of the upcoming Photo Mode. Larian encourages players to maximize their use of Photo Mode right from the start.
Photo Mode can be accessed almost anywhere in the game—during adventures, in combat, and even in multiplayer by the host player. Players can set up companions and characters in custom poses, with or without party members, and can even include additional characters like a jumping frog that takes up half the screen. The free-moving camera allows for perfect angles.
After setting up the shot, players can apply post-processing effects, stickers, and frames to enhance their photos. However, during dialogues and cinematic cutscenes, players can only add post-process effects and cannot manipulate poses.
This sneak peek is just the beginning, as Larian plans to release a tips and tricks video to further inspire and guide the creative efforts of the player base's budding photographers.
