Black Ops 6 Announces New Mode, Map, And Consistent Post-Launch UpdatesInfection and Nuketown Roll Out This Week
"Launch was only the beginning. Tomorrow, the Infected are coming to play. Nuketown joins the celebration on Friday. LFG," Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 developer Treyarch announced on Twitter (X), confirming the addition of the legendary fan-favorite multiplayer mode and memorable map to Black Ops 6 this week. The game, recently launching last week, will roll out the CoD staple "Infected" party mode on Friday. In Infected, players need to fend off and survive against player-controlled zombies.
Arriving a few days after is Nuketown, another fan-favorite Black Ops mainstay, beginning November 1. Debuting in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), Nuketown is a multiplayer map inspired by 1950s US nuclear test sites. Prior to Black Ops 6's release, Activision has announced that players can expect more modes to be regularly added to the game post-launch. Black Ops 6 released last week on October 25, containing 11 standard multiplayer modes at launch, including four alternate modes where Scorestreaks are disabled, as well as a Hardcore mode where players run on less health.
Black Ops 6 Update Fixes Several Post-Launch Issues, More Patches Expected Soon
Moreover, Black Ops 6 released its first update over the weekend which fixed issues in both multiplayer modes and Zombies that came up following the game’s release last week. XP and weapon XP rates have been increased in Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy and Gunfight. "Our team is closely monitoring XP rates for all modes to ensure players are progressing as expected wherever they play," Activision said. Below is a list of some of the resolved issues:
⚫︎ Global:
・Loadouts . The last-selected loadout will properly be highlighted when opening the Loadouts menu in-game.
・Operators. Addressed an issue with Bailey’s animation in the Operators menu.
・Settings. The ‘Mute Licensed Music’ setting now functions properly.
⚫︎ Maps:
・Babylon. Closed an exploit where players could get outside of the intended playspace on Babylon.
・Lowtown . Closed an exploit where players could get outside of the intended playspace on Lowtown.
・Red Card . Closed an exploit where players could get outside of the intended playspace on Red Card. Improved stability in Red Card.
・General. Addressed an issue with stability when using in-game interactions.
⚫︎ Multiplayer:
・Matchmaking. Addressed an issue that was occasionally preventing matches from quickly finding a replacement player in the case that another player quit the match.
・Private Matches. Private Match will no longer forfeit if one team has zero players.
・Scorestreaks. Addressed an issue where the incoming missile sound from the Dreadnought would continuously play.
Meanwhile, unresolved issues, such as dying upon loadout selection in Search & Destroy, are expected to receive fixes, according to developers Treyarch and Raven Software. Despite these issues reported by players post-launch, we think that Black Ops 6 is one of the best Call of Duty games in recent years, complete with an actually fun and memorable Campaign.
