In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, like its predecessors, you'll engage in thrilling combat across ancient China alongside various warlords. However, a crucial decision awaits: choosing your allegiance. This guide explains faction selection.
Understanding Factions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, as a neutral party. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.
Chapter 3 presents the pivotal choice: selecting a faction. Before this point, you'll have opportunities to interact with each faction.
To progress, complete specific missions for each faction: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Completing these unlocks a mission forcing you to choose a side. Only factions with completed missions will be selectable. You can, however, complete all missions before committing.
Your decision is permanent. The unchosen faction becomes inaccessible for the remainder of the game, preventing further sidequests and hindering bond increases with their officers. This can impact gameplay difficulty. For instance, allying with Liu Bei, who initially has fewer officers, limits skill point acquisition opportunities from sidequests.
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all content, create a save before choosing a kingdom and reload to explore other paths.
Faction selection in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is thus a strategic decision impacting gameplay and available content. The game is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
