DC Heroes United is a new interactive series playable on mobile
You'll make weekly decisions guiding the actions of famous heroes like Batman and Superman
It's also from the, er, people behind Silent Hill: Ascension
Whenever we read a monthly comic book I don't think I'm alone in saying that sometimes you might scoff and say, "Well I wouldn't do something like that." Well, all you sceptics and comic book nerds now have the chance to put your metaphorical money where your figurative mouth is. And that's because the new interactive series, playable on mobile, DC Heroes United, is out now!
DC Heroes United is a new interactive series streaming on Tubi, where viewers like you can tune in and watch the adventures of the Justice League (Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Superman and more) from the moment they first join together. Not only that, but by picking and making choices, you'll be able to influence the plot, and even who lives and who dies.
It's not the first time DC has done this (the "Does Jason Todd Live or Die" hotline comes to mind). But it is the first time Genvid, the folks behind the somewhat divisive Silent Hill: Ascension, has tackled this kind of genre, as you'll view and influence action on Earth-212, a continuity only just coming to grips with superheroes.
Now, I'm going to restrain the impulse to jest at Genvid and actually give them a bit of a fair assessment. For one, let's be honest, comic books can be delightfully absurd, and some would say superhero books are at their finest when they are like that. Meanwhile, Silent Hill is not exactly known for its whimsical action and frivolous costumes. So, arguably, Genvid may have a much better chance of giving their idea of an interactive series some traction here.
Second, DC Heroes United actually does come with a legitimate roguelite mobile release bundled into it. And just by that metric, it's already far superior to its predecessor (pun intended). The first episode of DC Heroes United is now available to view on Tubi! So will it succeed? Or fail? We'll have to wait and see.
