How Diamondback Works in Marvel Snap
Diamondback is a 3-cost, 3-power card with the ability: “Ongoing: Enemy cards here afflicted with negative Power have an additional -2 Power.”
This creates significant synergy with Marvel Snap's many negative-effect cards, such as U.S. Agent and Man-Thing. Scorpion, Hazmat, Cassandra Nova, Scream, Bullseye, and others also enhance her effectiveness. Landing her Ongoing effect on at least two cards boosts her power to a formidable 7.
However, be aware that Luke Cage completely nullifies her power, rendering her useless. Enchantress and Rogue can also significantly weaken her impact.
Best Diamondback Decks in Marvel Snap
While seemingly niche, Diamondback surprisingly fits into several competitive decks, including Scream Move, Toxic Ajax, High Evolutionary, and Bullseye Discard. She excels in Toxic Ajax and High Evolutionary decks, which share similarities. Let's examine two distinct deck builds: Scream Move and Toxic Ajax.
Scream Move Deck:
Kingpin, Scream, Kraven, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Spider-Man, Diamondback, Rocket Raccoon & Groot, Polaris, Doom 2099, Aero, Doctor Doom, Magneto [Click here to copy this list from Untapped.]
This deck features Series 5 cards: Scream, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Rocket Raccoon & Groot, and Doom 2099. Scream and Rocket Raccoon & Groot are crucial. If you lack Sam Wilson, consider a replacement affliction card like Scorpion.
The strategy centers on manipulating opponent's cards with Kingpin and Scream, while Diamondback complements Kingpin in a lane, inflicting -4 power on displaced cards, while Scream boosts elsewhere. The second half utilizes a Doom 2099 package for late-game power plays, combining Aero, Doctor Doom, Magneto, and any affliction effects.
Toxic Ajax Deck:
Silver Sable, Hazmat, U.S. Agent, Luke Cage, Rogue, Diamondback, Red Guardian, Rocket Raccoon & Groot, Malekith, Anti-Venom, Man-Thing, Ajax [Click here to copy this list from Untapped.]
This deck is heavily reliant on Series 5 cards: Silver Sable, U.S. Agent, Red Guardian, Rocket Raccoon & Groot, Malekith, Anti-Venom, and Ajax. Silver Sable can be substituted with Nebula, but the others are essential. This is a costly but potent deck.
The goal is maximizing Ajax's power using affliction cards. Sometimes, strategically avoiding Luke Cage enhances Ajax's power. Malekith offers potential power spikes by drawing cards like Hazmat and Diamondback. Anti-Venom provides surprise power boosts in the final turns. Rogue counters the prevalent Luke Cage, crucial for this deck's viability.
Is Diamondback Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?
Diamondback is a valuable addition if you have many affliction cards for an Ajax deck or frequently use Scream. However, if you avoid affliction decks or lack key cards like Scream and Rocket Raccoon & Groot, she's less worthwhile, as her effectiveness is limited to expensive deck types.
