Hill Troll Location in Rune Slayer
The Hill Troll is tucked away in a cave on the side of the mountain in Bahlgar. There are multiple routes to reach this location, but the simplest is starting from the elevator in Lakeshire. Head down to Bahlgar as you would to battle Beastmen. Instead of engaging them, stick close to the mountain wall and continue around it. Look for two platinum deposits and then scan the mountainside for the cave entrance. To access it, you'll need to leap into the opening, ideally on a mount. It may seem tricky at first, but once you've done it, you'll find returning to the cave straightforward. Hill Troll – Strategy, Loot, and Quest
Despite its menacing appearance, the Hill Troll is actually one of the more manageable mini-bosses in Rune Slayer. You'll likely face it multiple times, making its attack patterns familiar.
Tackling the Hill Troll solo is not advisable. Even though its attacks are slow and predictable, teaming up with at least one other player is recommended. You won't struggle to find company, as many players enjoy farming the Troll. After defeating it, the Troll respawns in just 90 seconds.
The Hill Troll wields a giant pillar, executing slow but powerful attacks. You can parry and block most of its moves, but be cautious when it raises the pillar overhead; that's a stun attack you'll want to avoid. Staggering the Troll is possible with sufficient damage, and if you're a Warrior Class player, a well-timed Counter can stun it.
While the Troll occasionally drops rare equipment, your focus should be on farming Troll Hides and Troll Heads. Troll Hides are crucial for crafting solid endgame gear, which, while not top-tier, will adequately prepare you for tougher challenges like the Mother Spider.
The Troll Head serves as a quest item for the repeatable Hodor Quest. Every hour, you can deliver a Troll Head to Hodor, located near the cave, for a chance at some potentially overpowered loot. If you're farming the Hill Troll, this quest is a must.
Can You Tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer?
Unfortunately, you cannot tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer, even as a Beast Tamer Archer. As a mini-boss, it's simply too large and cumbersome to serve as a pet. Its size might even prevent it from leaving its cave. Stick to taming more manageable creatures like the Mud Crab if you're a Beast Tamer.
