In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you primarily play as the Wanderer, striving for peace. Your journey offers significant choices impacting the main storyline, and loyal companions frequently join you in battle. While they fight alongside you, offering considerable support, you can occasionally take direct control. These companions are incredibly powerful, often surpassing the Wanderer's capabilities, even with upgrades. Here's how to switch characters.
How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching to a companion is only possible during battles where you have one accompanying you. Before a battle, the war council menu offers a final option to select your companion. You can choose to fight alone, but companion selection is the only option for character switching. Once the battle begins, your companion's health bar appears below yours in the bottom right corner.
Beneath their health bar is a blue bar, similar to your Musou gauge. This fills as you fight, accelerating with actions like parrying attacks, perfect dodges, assaulting officers, and using weapon arts. Most combat actions contribute to its fill, though at varying rates.
A "Change Character" button appears next to the companion's blue bar once it's full. Press and hold this button (View button on Xbox, C on PC, or Touchpad on PlayStation) for about a second to switch.
Playing As Other Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Character switching is strategically best utilized during intense battles. Companions are exceptionally powerful, and control lasts approximately one minute, indicated by the slowly depleting blue bar. Your newly controlled character starts with full Bravery and a range of effective combat arts.
Switching initiates with a powerful attack; aim carefully! Your companion also retains their filled Musou and health bars, allowing immediate use of their special attack.
