Feral Interactive Drops the Imperium Update for ROME: Total War

If you're a fan of the classic strategy game ROME: Total War on Android, you're in for a treat. Feral Interactive has just released the massive Imperium Update, enhancing gameplay with a host of tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life features. This update, which hit Android devices recently, brings a slew of new elements to the game that first made its mobile debut in 2018. Excitingly, the standalone expansions Barbarian Invasion and Alexander will receive similar updates next week.

What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?

The Imperium Update incorporates some of the best features from Feral's newer mobile releases, including Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. One of the standout additions is the introduction of three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These modes significantly enhance your ability to command units with greater precision during battles. Now, you can simply tap and hold to move your army, agents, or fleets, eliminating the need to manually drag paths.

Positioning Mode allows for fine-tuning unit placements with ease, while the Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups through a collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode enables ranged units to seamlessly switch to close combat when the situation demands it. A notable change is the introduction of Command Slowdown, which automatically slows the game when you issue complex orders, giving you more time to strategize. Additionally, for the first time, keyboard and mouse support is available for Android and iPad users.

The minimap in ROME: Total War has also been revamped to resemble the one in MEDIEVAL II, featuring smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button allows you to quickly return to the default view, enhancing your overall gaming experience.

The Imperium Update is now live and available for download via the Google Play Store for those who own ROME: Total War on Android. Keep an eye out for the upcoming updates for Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, set to roll out next week.
