Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 actor Ned Luke assures fans that the wait for GTA 6 will be worthwhile, even predicting a staggering $1.3 billion in first-day sales. Read on to discover more about what to expect from GTA 6 and its development.
Rockstar Games: A Surprise Awaits with GTA 6
GTA 5 Actor Predicts $1.3 Billion First-Day Sales for GTA 6
Ned Luke, the voice of Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will rake in $1.3 billion on its first day of release. In a recent interview with YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke expressed his excitement for the upcoming game, emphasizing Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected.
He urged patience, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He referenced GTA 5's impressive $800 million first-day haul in 2013, confidently asserting that GTA 6 will significantly surpass that figure.
Market research firm DFC Intelligence supports this optimism, projecting over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue within the first year, with a billion dollars stemming from pre-orders alone.
The Return of GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6?
Luke also offered insights into the potential return of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and, perhaps, GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, remains absent from GTA Online, unlike Trevor and Franklin.
Luke hinted at Michael's possible appearance in a speculated final GTA Online DLC or even a cameo in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested a "passing the torch" scenario involving Trevor's death in ScreenRant's January 2025 interview, Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, official confirmation regarding their characters' presence in GTA 6 remains elusive.
GTA 6: Potentially in the Testing Phase
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (via GamesRadar), York highlighted the game's unique unpredictability, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."
He believes the game is now in its in-house testing phase, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras," suggesting at least a playable version exists, possibly having undergone extensive internal testing.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, offering little further information since. While Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report hinted at a Fall 2025 release, no official release date has been confirmed.
