The highly anticipated Lunar Remastered Collection is set to launch on April 18th, bringing the classic JRPG duology to modern platforms. Developed by Game Arts and published by GungHo Online Entertainment, this collection will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam), with backward compatibility for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Physical copies will also be released in North America and Europe.
This remaster boasts a range of improvements, including fully voiced dialogue in English and Japanese, plus newly added French and German subtitles. A classic mode allows players to enjoy the original PS1-era visuals, while a modernized widescreen presentation, updated pixel art, and high-definition cutscenes are also included. Quality-of-life enhancements such as faster combat and auto-battle options will streamline gameplay.
Announced during a 2024 Sony State of Play, the Lunar Remastered Collection's release marks a significant event for fans of the series, which originally debuted in 1992 with Lunar: The Silver Star for the Sega CD. The collection includes remastered versions of Lunar: The Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete, both previously released on PlayStation and Sega Saturn. The success of this remaster remains to be seen, but the developers' prior success with the Grandia HD Collection suggests a positive outlook.
