Get ready for a power surge in Marvel Rivals! Season 2 is bringing electrifying changes, focusing on revamped team-up skills and brand-new skins for your favorite heroes. Let's dive into what NetEase has cooked up.
Upcoming Updates for Marvel Rivals
Revamped Team-Up Skills
Marvel Rivals Game Director Guangyun Chen revealed some exciting news in a recent PC Gamer interview (March 14th). Season 2 will see a significant overhaul of team-up skills. Expect new skills alongside adjustments to existing ones. This, combined with overall balance changes, promises a fresh and dynamic combat experience.
Currently, the game boasts 17 team-up skills, including notable combinations like Hela's Ragnarok Rebirth, Cloak & Dagger's Lunar Force, and Allied Agents for Hawkeye and Black Widow. Balancing these skills with the ever-expanding roster will be a challenge, but Chen assures us the team is up to the task.
Hero Balancing: A Continuous Effort
Maintaining balance in a game with a growing roster is no small feat. Chen detailed the meticulous process, explaining that the team monitors key metrics across various game modes (Quick Match and Competitive). Data points like win rates, pick rates, damage dealt and taken, and final blows are analyzed across different ranks and tournaments. This data, coupled with an analysis of team compositions and win rates, informs their balancing decisions. Crucially, player feedback also plays a vital role in shaping these adjustments.
Chen previously hinted (Metro interview, January) at a new hero release every half-season. With three-month seasons, that's eight new heroes annually! The team's commitment is clear, especially considering NetEase's pledge to support Marvel Rivals for a decade and beyond. Season 2 content is ready, with Seasons 3 and 4 already in development.
Spider-Punk 2099 and Steam Power Iron Man Arrive March 20th
NetEase's official Twitter (X) account announced the arrival of highly anticipated skins for Spider-Man and Iron Man on March 20th at 7 PM PDT / 10 PM EDT / March 21st at 2:00 AM UTC.
Spider-Man gets a futuristic makeover – "Spider-Punk 2099" – complete with a digital mask, spiked mohawk, and electric guitar. Iron Man dons a steampunk-inspired "Steam Power" suit, featuring impressive exhaust pipes and a fiery furnace on his chest. These skins, previously seen in the closed beta, fulfill fan requests, following the recent release of Loki's Presidential attire (also a beta favorite). While the release date is set, pricing remains under wraps for now.
NetEase is wrapping up Season 1 and preparing for a massive Season 2 launch. Marvel Rivals is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates!
