If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential *The Last of Us Part 3*, I've got some disappointing news for you. Neil Druckmann, the series creator, has significantly dampened hopes for a third installment during a recent interview with Variety. The conversation, which largely focused on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series, took a somber turn when Druckmann was asked about the future of the video game series. His response was candid and disheartening:
“I was waiting for this question,” he said with a sigh. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
While Druckmann's words might suggest the end of the road for *The Last of Us* in video game form, skepticism remains. Naughty Dog is currently engrossed in developing *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December. Given the absence of a release window for *Intergalactic*, it's clear that the studio's focus is firmly set in the realm of space exploration for the foreseeable future. This leaves little room for *The Last of Us Part 3* in the immediate pipeline. Druckmann might be playing his cards close to the chest, or perhaps he's genuinely uncertain about committing to another sequel at this stage. Only time will tell if his stance will shift or remain firm.
For fans still yearning for more of *The Last of Us*, the television adaptation offers some solace. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann expressed uncertainty about the number of seasons needed to cover the story of *Part 2*, an HBO executive hinted in February that a total of four seasons might be the ideal format to wrap up the narrative.
