NieR's 15th Anniversary: A Livestream Event and the Potential for a New Game
Get ready, NieR fans! A special 15th-anniversary livestream is set to unveil exciting new updates and behind-the-scenes insights from the developers themselves. This article delves into the upcoming event and explores the possibility of a new NieR game announcement.
NieR's 15th Anniversary Livestream: April 19, 2025
Mark your calendars! Square Enix will host a livestream celebration on their YouTube channel on April 19, 2025, commemorating 15 years of the NieR series.
The event will feature key figures from the NieR universe, including Yoko Taro (creator and creative director), Yosuke Saito (producer), Keiichi Okabe (composer), Takahisa Taura (senior game designer), and Hiroki Yasumoto (voice of Grimoire Weiss and Pod 042). A mini-live performance and other anniversary announcements are also planned.
Interestingly, the promotional image features art from the now-closed NieR Reincarnation mobile game. This could hint at future developments related to the title, or simply serve as a nostalgic nod to the series' history.
The livestream, expected to last approximately 2.5 hours, will begin at 2 AM PT on April 19, 2025, fueling speculation of a significant announcement.
A New NieR Game on the Horizon?
Producer Yosuke Saito has hinted at the possibility of a new NieR game. A December 2024 interview with 4Gamer saw Saito mention the anniversary and express his desire to commemorate it with either a new game or other significant series developments.
The last mainline release was NieR: Automata in 2017, followed by the NieR Replicant remaster-remake. While no official announcements have been made, the anticipation for a new entry in the series is high, especially given the upcoming 15th anniversary.
