The Pokemon Company has expressed gratitude to fans for their patience amid shortages of the Scarlet and Violet — Prismatic Evolutions set. In a significant move, the company has not only acknowledged the issue but also outlined steps to address the scarcity. This is the first time the Pokemon Company has publicly addressed the challenges with this eagerly awaited expansion of the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG).
Prismatic Evolutions, announced in early November 2024 with pre-orders starting shortly after, is set to launch internationally on January 17, 2025. The set was designed to kick off the new year with excitement for Pokemon TCG enthusiasts. However, like many new expansions, it has faced global shortages, particularly in the United States.
After weeks of fan feedback and concerns shared across social media platforms, The Pokemon Company issued a statement to IGN, recognizing the difficulty in obtaining some of their latest products. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokemon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to acknowledge this," a spokesperson stated.
Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Reprints Are Coming Soon
The company is currently producing reprints of Prismatic Evolutions, which are expected to reach licensed distributors soon, although no specific timeline was provided. While some fans have pointed to scalpers as the cause of the shortages, The Pokemon Company attributes the issue to "high demand" without further elaboration.
More Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Products Are Also on the Horizon
In addition to the reprints, The Pokemon Company announced that new Prismatic Evolutions products will be available in the coming months. These were initially mentioned during the set's announcement in November 2024. Upcoming releases include a Mini Tin and Surprise Box, set for release on February 7, 2025, followed by a Booster Bundle and Accessory Pouch Special Collection on March 7 and April 25, respectively. A Super-Premium Collection will be available on May 16, and a Premium Figure Collection is slated for September 26. Fans eager to try out the new cards can do so by playing the Battle Pass in the Pokemon TCG Live mobile game, which will start awarding Prismatic Evolutions cards from January 16, 2025.
