Securing the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* requires completing specific tasks, and rescuing Sam is key. This guide details how to find and save Sam during the "Reckoning" quest.
Rescuing Sam During “Reckoning”
Towards the end of the main questline, you discover Sam is held captive at Praguer’s Camp, captured by Brabant. The "Reckoning" quest presents the opportunity to save him. You can infiltrate the camp stealthily or opt for a more direct approach.
To blend in, acquire a guard's outfit. You can either kill a guard and take his, remembering to hide the body, or find one in the camp's numerous chests. Once equipped, explore the camp undetected.

Sam is located in the barn to the left of the camp, beyond the central cooking fire. Use the ladder on the barn's side to enter and confront Brabant. Here, you face crucial choices: kill or spare Brabant. Sparing him contributes to the best ending, but the decision rests with you.
When to Rescue Sam
After freeing Sam, don't immediately leave the camp. He'll inform you about von Aulitz, also present. It's more efficient to deal with von Aulitz, find a horse, and then return for Sam. This order simplifies the process, as you'll need to carry him to the horse.
Von Aulitz is in the main camp area. Your guard outfit allows you to access him without raising suspicion. Upon finding him, you'll discover he's already dying. You can offer him a dignified death (the most honorable choice), kill him, or leave him to perish. Leaving him to die contributes to the best ending.
Finally, retrieve Sam from the barn (a guard may question you; explain you're moving a body to avoid suspicion). Exit the camp, turn right, and proceed to the stables outside.

Choose a horse and escape with Sam, bringing you closer to completing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s main quests.
