Star Wars: Hunters, despite not even reaching its first birthday, will celebrate its one-year anniversary before shutting down its servers on October 1st, 2025. But is there any real reason to celebrate the demise of a game?
When Are the Star Wars: Hunters Servers Shutting Down?
The official shutdown date is October 1st, 2025, marking a short lifespan of only nine months post-launch. Players will have a few extra weeks to complete Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.
Developer and publisher Zynga will release a final content update on April 15th, introducing a new Support Hunter, Tuya, for free. In-game purchases will be disabled on the same day. Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers close, and seasonal events will be rerun. Players are advised to spend any remaining Crystals as no refunds will be offered.
A Predictable End?
While unfortunate, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters might have been foreseen. Multiple delays, limited initial beta testing (SEA and ANZAC regions only), a lack of major console support, and a generally lukewarm reception all contributed to its downfall.
The game's design choices also seem questionable. Instead of leveraging the immense popularity of iconic Star Wars characters, it opted for generic original characters, potentially missing a significant opportunity.
If you're curious to experience the game one last time before its closure, Star Wars: Hunters remains available for download on the Google Play Store.
