Speculation about Starfield's potential release on PlayStation 5 intensified over the weekend after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda's official Creations website. The logo was linked to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, which was later removed, fueling rumors that Bethesda's sci-fi game, previously exclusive to PC and Xbox, might soon be available on PS5.
They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

The discovery has led to discussions about whether Bethesda is planning a significant content update or even a new expansion to coincide with Starfield's anticipated PS5 release. Following the launch of the poorly received Shattered Space expansion, there has been little news about Starfield. However, Bethesda's parent company, Microsoft, is expected to host a summer showcase this year, which could provide more details about the game's future.
Bethesda has hinted at "exciting things" planned for Starfield in 2024, despite growing discontent among players over the lack of communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield and confirmed at least one more story expansion following Shattered Space. In an interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard mentioned the goal of releasing an annual story expansion for "hopefully a very long time."

Starfield launched in September 2023 as Bethesda's first new intellectual property in years and its first mainline single-player game since Microsoft acquired parent company ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN's review of Starfield awarded it a 7/10, stating, "Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist."
In January, Microsoft's gaming boss Phil Spencer hinted at the possibility of Starfield being released on PS5. Reports from March 2024 suggested that both Starfield and MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were being considered for PS5. While Indiana Jones was confirmed for PS5 with a spring 2025 release window, Starfield has yet to be officially announced for the platform, though Spencer's comments suggest it could happen.
Several Xbox games are already available on PS5, including Sea of Thieves by Rare, Hi-Fi Rush by Tango Gameworks, and Grounded and Pentiment by Obsidian. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation consoles and other platforms and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Forza Horizon 5 by Playground Games is also set to come to PS5 soon. There are even rumors that Microsoft might bring Halo to PlayStation after decades of Xbox exclusivity.

Spencer has stated that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is partly driven by the need to increase revenue for Microsoft's gaming business, especially after the $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. In an interview from last August, Spencer emphasized the high expectations within Microsoft and the need to deliver value back to the company.
"We run a business," Spencer said. "It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do. So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us."
Bethesda Game Studios, currently managing five teams focused on Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile, and external development partnerships, is navigating a busy period.
