Fueling the fire of anticipation for a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater remake, Singapore's rating board has listed "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4" for a 2025 release. This rumored remake, encompassing the next two mainline entries in the beloved franchise, is reportedly slated for a wide array of platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
While official confirmation remains elusive, a countdown timer recently discovered within Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 hints at an impending announcement, ticking down to March 4, 2025. Adding further weight to the speculation, Tony Hawk himself revealed on Mythical Kitchen that he's been in discussions with Activision, teasing a project that will "truly appreciate" the fans.
The success of the 2020 Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake made a sequel featuring games 3 and 4 seem inevitable. However, the 2021 integration of Vicarious Visions, the original remake developer, into Blizzard presented a significant hurdle. This acquisition redirected the team's focus to Blizzard projects, leaving the future of the THPS remake uncertain.
According to Tony Hawk, plans to develop THPS 3+4 were underway until Vicarious Visions' absorption. Activision subsequently sought new developers, but failed to find a studio that met their expectations. In a 2022 Twitch livestream, Hawk stated that Activision solicited proposals for THPS 3+4 but ultimately rejected them all due to a lack of confidence in the potential developers.
The mystery, therefore, remains: who is developing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4? The Singaporean ratings board only lists Activision as both publisher and developer. All eyes are now on March 4th, when we may finally receive some answers.
