In *Atomfall*, enhancing your weapons not only improves their stats but also adds a sleek new skin and can unlock the coveted 'Make do and mend' trophy. Here's your comprehensive guide on how to upgrade weapons in *Atomfall*.
How to Unlock the Gunsmithing Skill in Atomfall
Morris Wick at the Village Shop in Wyndham possesses a copy of the Crafting Manual, but obtaining it requires more than simple bartering. You'll need to use a mix of blackmail and negotiation. Upon entering St. Katherine’s Church, you'll uncover a recent murder of Maisie, with the Vicar keen to keep it under wraps. Further investigation will lead you to evidence that implicates Morris. Confronting him with this evidence will pressure him into handing over the Crafting Manual.
The incriminating evidence against Morris is located in the Brewery Cellar at coordinates 30.5 E, 80.5 N in the west of Wyndham Village. Enter through a cellar door by a ruined building and search until you find the note titled "Kill the One They Call Maisie". After securing the note, return to Morris’ Village Shop at 33.3 E, 79.9 N and engage in dialogue that pressures him without outright threats. This will lead to the "Bargaining" dialogue choice, and selecting it will result in Morris giving you the Crafting Manual in exchange for your silence.
Alternatively, you can find the Crafting Manual in the D Section of The Interchange, though this method is more time-consuming and challenging.
Once you've obtained and read the Crafting Manual, you'll need to spend 7 Training Stimulants to unlock the Gunsmith skill, which will grant you access to the recipes for crafting upgraded weapons. Be sure to search B.A.R.D. structures like Bunkers and The Interchange to gather the necessary Training Stimulants.
How To Craft Weapon Upgrades in Atomfall
For instance, upgrading the Falkirk Battle Rifle to Pristine requires 2 Falkirk Battle Rifles (Stock), 3 Gun Oil, and 6 Scrap. These materials are commonly found at military installations, particularly Protocol Camps. If you plan on frequently upgrading weapons, consider investing in the Deep Pockets survival skill to increase your carrying capacity for crafting supplies.
Upon upgrading a weapon to Pristine for the first time, you'll be awarded the 'Make do and mend' Achievement or Trophy.
