World of Warcraft has delayed the launch of its second Plunderstorm event due to unforeseen technical issues. While a launch before the end of January 14th is still the goal, players will need to be patient.
Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced in 2024's Dragonflight expansion, was slated to return on January 14th, 2025, with both returning and new rewards.
Unfortunately, unexpected problems arose during the planned rollout. An initially scheduled six-hour maintenance period was extended to eight hours, with servers expected to return at 3 PM PST. However, a WoW community manager, Kaivax, announced further delays due to unresolved issues. While a launch before the end of January 14th remains the hope, no firm timeframe has been provided.
When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?
- Before the end of January 14th, pending resolution of unexpected issues.
Regular WoW servers are now back online. Players awaiting Plunderstorm can participate in Siren Isle weeklies, the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or other activities within The War Within.
This second Plunderstorm iteration includes new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. These features may have contributed to the delays, hopefully resolved swiftly.
Despite the game mode's delay, World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are currently active. Watch four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch streamer before February 4th at 10 AM PST to earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog. The streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm, allowing players to earn the reward while waiting for the event's return.
