The Witcher saga continues! Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3 captivated gamers, a first look at The Witcher 4 has arrived, introducing Ciri as the protagonist.
As Geralt's adopted daughter, Ciri steps into the spotlight as the Witcher's trilogy concludes. The teaser depicts Ciri intervening in a village gripped by superstition, where a young woman is slated for sacrifice. Ciri's rescue attempt reveals a far more sinister situation than initially apparent.
While no official release date exists, considering the development times of Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077, a 3-4 year timeframe for Witcher 4 seems plausible, given the early stage of production.
Platform announcements are pending, but given the anticipated release window, a current-gen-only release (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC) is likely. A Switch port, while possible on a future iteration of the console, seems less probable than with Witcher 3.
Although gameplay details are scarce, the CGI trailer hints at returning elements: potions, Signs, and familiar phrases. A notable addition appears to be Ciri's chain, used for both combat and magic.
Voice actor Doug Cockle confirmed Geralt's presence, albeit in a supporting role. His voiceover in the teaser fuels speculation of a mentor-like function.
