The narrative is told from the perspective of Lavi, a female hunter who is part of the "Jagers of the North," a group featured in the TV anime.
In the year 1205 of the Seventh Calendar, Lavi, a girl born and raised in Northumbria, joins the "Jagers of the North" to protect her homeland and to prove herself different from her grandfather, Vlad, who was once revered as a hero but later betrayed their homeland. Driven by her duties, Lavi often disregards discipline, leading to her assignment to a platoon with Jaeger Corps members Marty, Iselia, and Talion. They are tasked with a dangerous espionage mission into the Erebonia Empire to gather information about the mysterious "Hero of the Empire," who poses a threat to Northumbria.
