HBO's critically acclaimed The Last of Us series is projected to span four seasons, according to an executive.
Francesca Orsi of HBO indicated that a four-season run is the current expectation for the hit show, though she emphasized the absence of a finalized plan. "While I can't confirm it definitively, it's looking like this season, followed by two more, and then we're done," Orsi told Deadline.
Regarding the anticipated Season 2 premiere in April 2025, Orsi hinted at intriguing developments: "Certain factions vying for survival will emerge, revealing themselves as a captivating survivalist group with a unique and distinct presentation. Their wardrobe and makeup will set them apart from ordinary characters."

Those who missed Season 1 still have time to catch up before Season 2's April premiere. Unlike Season 1, which adapted the first game in its entirety, HBO intends to extend the adaptation of The Last of Us Part II beyond a single season, structuring Season 2 with a planned "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes.
Season 2 introduces several new characters, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel. Catherine O'Hara's role remains undisclosed.
IGN's review of The Last of Us Season 1 lauded it as "a stunning adaptation that will enthrall newcomers and resonate with those familiar with Joel and Ellie's journey," earning a remarkable 9/10 score.
