Ready to take on the Chatacabra, the long-tongued menace of *Monster Hunter Wilds*? This early-game foe is a great training ground, so let's master the art of the hunt!
How to Defeat the Chatacabra in *Monster Hunter Wilds*

Weaknesses: Ice, Thunder
Resistances: N/A
Immunities: Sonic Bomb
The Chatacabra, a large frog-like monster, primarily uses close-range attacks with its tongue. It might also rush you from a distance. While relatively easy to defeat, its small size makes weapons like the Bow and Charge Blade slightly less efficient than others due to their multi-hit attacks being more effective against larger targets.
Most attacks involve its tongue, making the front a dangerous zone. Besides the tongue lick, it slams its front limbs into the ground after a noticeable rearing motion. The only significant attack from a distance involves it raising its head and sweeping its tongue behind it.
For optimal success, stay to the sides and dodge or block its slam attack. Exploiting its elemental weaknesses with Ice or Thunder weapons will significantly speed up the fight.
How to Capture the Chatacabra in *Monster Hunter Wilds*

Capturing monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds follows a consistent pattern. The Chatacabra's inability to fly simplifies the process. You'll need a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap, and two Tranquilizer Bombs. However, bringing one of each trap type and eight Tranquilizer Bombs is recommended for a smoother experience.
Battle the Chatacabra until its icon on the minimap displays a skull, indicating its final retreat. Follow it, set your trap, and lure it inside. Once trapped, use two Tranquilizer Bombs to capture it.
