Jack Quaid, known for his role in "The Boys," has expressed his enthusiasm for potentially starring in a BioShock movie, citing the game as one of his all-time favorites. During a Reddit AMA to promote his new film, Novocaine, Quaid highlighted the deep lore of BioShock, suggesting it would be well-suited for a TV or movie adaptation. "I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of BioShock - one of my favorite games of all time," he stated. "I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."
The prospects of a BioShock film becoming a reality have been influenced by recent changes within the project. Last July, producer Roy Lee mentioned that the adaptation had been "reconfigured" due to leadership changes, aiming for a "more personal" film. This shift was necessitated by reduced budgets from Netflix, though specific details about the plot remain undisclosed. Francis Lawrence, known for directing the Hunger Games series, continues to be attached to direct the project. Lee noted, "The new regime has lowered the budgets. So we're doing a much smaller version. It's going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project."
Quaid's comments also touched on his striking resemblance to the video game character Max Payne, whose likeness is inspired by Remedy writer Sam Lake. Fans have noted similarities between Quaid's appearance in Novocaine and Max Payne, leading to speculation about a potential Max Payne movie. However, Quaid admitted to being less familiar with Max Payne, despite the resemblance. "I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take," he said. "I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."
Beyond BioShock, Quaid revealed his passion for FromSoftware games, particularly enjoying the challenges presented by titles like Bloodborne and Elden Ring. "I'm a huge video game nerd," he shared. "And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat Bloodborne, then I beat Sekiro, and now I'm going full boar into Elden Ring. Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are - it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed."
