Assassin's Creed Shadows of Mordor can be a challenging game, but thankfully, you have considerable control over the difficulty. This guide explains the difficulty levels and how to adjust them to your preferred play style.
Assassin's Creed Shadows Difficulty Levels Explained
Assassin's Creed Shadows of Mordor offers four difficulty settings:
- Story: This mode is designed for players who prioritize narrative over challenge. Enemies react slowly, don't attack in coordinated groups, making combat very forgiving.
- Forgiving: A step up from Story mode, Forgiving still limits enemy coordination, but combat encounters are more demanding. Naoe's combat abilities are enhanced, offering a more balanced experience.
- Normal: The default setting provides a well-rounded challenge. Stealth and strategic combat are essential for success. Naoe and Yasuke require tactical approaches, matching opponents appropriately.
- Expert: This mode is for seasoned players seeking a significant challenge. Enemies are aggressive, hit harder, and require precise stealth and strategic combat. Consistent gear upgrades are crucial for survival.
Difficulty Tuning
While the four pre-set difficulty levels offer a good range, you can further customize the experience through Difficulty Tuning. Located within the Gameplay settings menu, this option allows independent adjustment of combat and stealth difficulty. This means you can tailor the challenge to your strengths and weaknesses; enjoy challenging combat but prefer a less demanding stealth experience, for example.
Additionally, you can enable "Guaranteed Assassination," allowing Naoe to instantly assassinate any enemy with a single hit. This bypasses the need for Assassin Mastery tree upgrades, providing a significant advantage.
How to Change Difficulty
Adjusting the difficulty is simple. Access the in-game menu, navigate to Settings, then select the Gameplay tab. Make your desired changes and return to the game. The changes will take effect immediately.
