Dynasty Warriors: Origins lacks a dedicated sprint button; your character automatically sprints after a few running steps. While sprinting offers decent speed, traversing large battlefields to quickly reach officers for rescue often proves necessary for victory.
This is where your trusty steed comes in, summonable at any time, both in the overworld and during battles. Engage in swift hit-and-run tactics by fighting directly from horseback. Here's how to acquire your first mount, improve its abilities, and switch between different steeds.
How To Unlock Your First Steed in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your initial mount is a free gift! After completing the second major battle, "Test Of Zheng Fei," in Chapter 1, a merchant appears in the overworld. You'll likely encounter him on your way to the Battle Of Guangzong. He's located northeast of Wan Castle, before reaching the camp, standing beside his horse. Simply speak to him to receive your free steed; it will be automatically equipped.
Summon your horse by pressing down on the left joystick (console) or V (keyboard).
How To Enhance Your Mount in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your horse gains experience points (XP) based on completed missions, even if you don't actively ride it. XP is earned during missions and main story battles, but not during skirmishes. Missions are indicated by a red diamond with a soldier icon. The XP gained depends on battle duration and your horse's usage, including charging into enemies. Leveling up unlocks unique buffs for each horse at specific intervals.
How To Change Mounts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
While your first horse is automatically equipped, additional mounts are available. Manage your steeds in the Battle Preparation menu; it's the last option on the left. Each horse offers unique advantages, with some being inherently faster or more powerful. Consider switching to optimize your strategy. Acquiring new mounts requires maximizing the peace level of a region; a new horse will then be available at a nearby waypoint as a reward.
