Martin, who crafted the rich lore and history for FromSoftware's critically acclaimed game *Elden Ring*, released in 2022, has hinted at ongoing discussions about a cinematic adaptation. Despite his contributions to the game being highlighted in marketing efforts and acknowledged in the game's credits alongside FromSoftware's Hidetaka Miyazaki, Martin's potential involvement in a movie project faces a significant hurdle: his ongoing work on *The Winds of Winter*, the long-awaited sixth book in his *A Song of Ice and Fire* series.

"Well, I can't say too much about it, but there is some talk about making a movie out of *Elden Ring*," he shared. He admitted to being significantly behind schedule, stating, "I'm a few years behind with my latest book, so that also limits the amount of things that I can do."
