While many fans believed Patch 7 would be the last major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has confirmed another substantial update set for release in 2025. This update promises to enhance the gaming experience with features like crossplay support and a photo mode, alongside the introduction of 12 new subclasses, each bringing unique mechanics to the game.
Details about four of these subclasses have already been shared, and now we're diving into the remaining ones: Oath of the Crown Paladin, Arcane Archer, Drunken Master Monk, and Swarmkeeper Ranger.
The Oath of the Crown Paladin is dedicated to upholding justice and order, prioritizing the welfare of society. This subclass features the Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage to allies but also restores their health, making it a vital asset in any party.
The Arcane Archer blends martial prowess with arcane magic, using enchanted arrows that can blind, weaken, or even exile enemies to the Feywild until the next turn. If an arrow misses its intended target, the Arcane Archer can skillfully adjust its flight path to strike another enemy, ensuring no shot goes to waste.
The Drunken Master Monk brings a unique twist to combat by incorporating alcohol into their fighting techniques. Their signature move intoxicates foes, leaving them disoriented while simultaneously boosting the monk's own abilities. The use of Instant Sobriety on an intoxicated target inflicts both physical and mental damage, adding a strategic layer to battles.
Lastly, the Swarmkeeper Ranger harnesses the power of nature by forming alliances with swarms of creatures. These swarms not only shield the ranger from harm but also assist with teleportation. In combat, the ranger can deploy three types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters, blinding moth clouds, and stinging bee legions that can knock back enemies failing a strength check by 4.5 meters, adding dynamic and versatile combat options.
