Marvel Rivals, the popular hero shooter, is a smash hit on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, NetEase has confirmed it won't be coming to the original Nintendo Switch. But what about the Nintendo Switch 2?
We recently spoke with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas. The news for Switch fans is promising! Wu stated, "We're already in contact with Nintendo and working on some development kits. Whenever we can provide great performance on the Switch 2, we're open to it. The reason we didn't launch on the original Switch was its inability to deliver a great gameplay experience. If the Switch 2 achieves that, we're definitely interested."
The Nintendo Switch 2 was officially announced last month. While specifics are still scarce, it’s expected to be a more powerful console with enhanced capabilities. Interestingly, it appears to incorporate mouse-like controller functionality, potentially making shooter games like Marvel Rivals feel more PC-like. The exact implementation remains to be seen. The Nintendo Switch 2 lacks a release date, but a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd. Marvel Rivals is currently available on other platforms, and we highly recommend it. Our 8/10 review praised the game, stating it "may be following closely in the slipstream of the hero shooters that have come before it, but by doing so Marvel Rivals has firmly placed itself in a strong position to take the crown for itself." The Human Torch and The Thing are set to join the roster on February 21st.
