Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following recent claims by American accessory maker Genki, Nintendo has officially denied any involvement in their CES 2025 presentation of a purported Nintendo Switch 2 mockup. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper report Nintendo's statement confirming the displayed hardware and accompanying visuals as unofficial. Nintendo explicitly stated that they did not provide Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.
Genki, known for producing accessories for various electronics and gaming consoles, generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by showcasing a 3D-printed Switch 2 model. They further claimed to possess a functional Switch 2 unit and even hinted at a release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup.
This contradicts Nintendo's official silence on concrete Switch 2 details, beyond their previously confirmed backward compatibility with existing Switch games. Given Genki's claims, the pressure is mounting on Nintendo to officially unveil the next-generation console.
