Palworld's latest update, v0.5.0, brings a host of exciting features, including crossplay across all platforms, revolutionizing the way players interact and play together. Now, you can enjoy Palworld with friends on different systems, making the game more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
A standout addition is the Global Palbox, which allows you to store Pal data and transfer Pals between different worlds. This feature is a game-changer for players who want to manage their Pals across multiple servers. Complementing this, the new Dimensional Pal Storage offers a massive 10 times the capacity of the regular Palbox. This system is not only accessible to guild members but can also be set to private, providing flexible storage options tailored to your needs.
For those who love to customize their characters, the update introduces a cosmetic armor system. Now, you can change your character’s appearance at the Antique Dresser without impacting armor stats, giving you the freedom to look the way you want while maintaining your preferred gameplay stats. Additionally, the new photo mode, accessible from the Pal Command Wheel, lets you capture stunning in-game moments by hiding the UI and freely moving the camera.
The update also introduces a Drafting Table, where you can combine lower-rarity blueprints to create higher-rarity ones, enhancing your crafting capabilities. Dedicated servers for Mac players are now available, ensuring a smoother experience for those on Apple's platform. Developer Pocketpair has also announced plans to add dedicated servers for the PlayStation 5 version in the future.
Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has attracted an incredible 32 million players. The studio has outlined a comprehensive content roadmap for 2025, promising an "ending scenario" and more new content to keep the community engaged. Launched on Steam for $30 and simultaneously on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, Palworld broke records for sales and concurrent players. The game's massive success led Pocketpair to form Palworld Entertainment with Sony to expand the IP and bring the game to PS5.
However, the game faces a legal challenge from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who have filed a lawsuit claiming Palworld infringes on multiple patent rights. Pocketpair has responded by identifying the alleged infringements and adjusting gameplay mechanics, such as how players summon Pals. The studio remains committed to defending its position in court.
