Pokémon TCG Pocket's latest major update introduces the Space Time Smackdown expansion, featuring Pokémon Diamond and Pearl themes. This expansion, available in two booster packs (Dialga and Palkia themed), boasts 207 cards, a smaller count than Genetic Apex but with a higher percentage of rare cards (52 alternate art Star and Crown rarity cards compared to Genetic Apex's 60). The total card count, excluding alternate arts, is 155, including 10 new ex Pokémon (Yanmega, Infernape, Palkia, Pacharisu, Mismagius, Gallade, Weavile, Darkrai, Dialga, and Lickilicky). Every Pokémon type except Dragon now has an ex Pokémon, with Darkness gaining two.

A key addition is Pokémon Tool cards: Giant Cape (+20 HP), Rocky Helmet (deals 20 HP when the active Pokémon takes damage), and Lum Berry (removes status conditions).
Battles
Space Time Smackdown introduces new Solo Battles across Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert tiers, featuring Pokémon like Dialga ex, Palkia ex, Togekiss, and others. The meta is expected to shift significantly. Infernape ex's powerful 140 damage attack, Palkia ex's 150 damage attack with area-of-effect damage, and Weavile ex's variable damage attack are notable additions. Steel-type decks receive a boost with Dialga ex and supporting cards.
Missions and Rewards
New missions offer rewards like Pack Hourglasses, Wonder Hourglasses, and Emblem Tickets. Collecting signature cards unlocks rental decks, while completing the set unlocks Dialga and Palkia icons. Museum missions focus on 1-Star and 2-Star cards, with a final mission rewarding players for collecting the Cynthia full art card and 1-Star cards of her key Pokémon (Gastrodon, Lucario, Spiritomb, and Garchomp). New shop items include Dialga and Palkia album covers, a Lovely Hearts backdrop, and a Cynthia-themed Poké Gold bundle. A "Trade Feature Celebration Gift" provided 500 Trade Tokens and 120 Trade Hourglasses.
Trading
The recent trading update remains controversial. Trade Tokens, required for trading cards of 3 Diamonds or higher, are obtained by selling cards. The high cost of tokens needed to trade higher-rarity cards has drawn criticism, with players noting the difficulty of acquiring enough tokens for valuable trades. The system has been described as "hilariously toxic" and a "monumental failure" by some players.
