With the Nintendo Switch 2's imminent arrival, speculation about its launch titles is rife. While an official lineup remains elusive, let's explore some likely and hopeful contenders. Nintendo boasts a strong library, making some predictions – like a new Mario adventure – highly probable. However, we also anticipate exciting new projects from acclaimed indie developers.

While expecting all these games on day one is optimistic, even half would make for a stellar launch. Here are our anticipated (and hoped-for) Switch 2 launch titles:
Mario Kart 9
Over a decade since Mario Kart 8's release, its enduring popularity (as the best-selling game on both Wii U and Switch) strongly suggests a sequel. Though a "new twist" was reported in 2022, official confirmation is pending. We anticipate fresh, innovative gameplay, ideally launching alongside the Switch 2.
A New 3D Super Mario Adventure
The Switch surprisingly lacked multiple 3D Mario titles. Beyond Super Mario Odyssey (2017) and a Super Mario 3D World port, a new 3D platformer is overdue. A launch-day release alongside a new Mario Kart would be a powerful statement, though a staggered release within the first few months would also be welcome.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
The long-awaited Metroid Prime 4, now titled Beyond, has undergone a development shift from Bandai Namco to Retro Studios. Its gameplay reveal hinted at impressive visuals, potentially showcasing the Switch 2's capabilities. A launch-day release would finally end the fans' lengthy wait.
Enhanced Versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom
These Switch juggernauts deserve a place on the new console. Backward compatibility is hoped for, ideally with performance enhancements. 4K visuals and improved frame rates would be a significant upgrade.
Ring Fit Adventure 2
Nintendo often includes quirky titles at launch. Ring Fit Adventure, a fitness-focused RPG, defied expectations, selling over 15 million copies. A sequel leveraging the Switch 2's features would be a smart move.
Resident Evil 4 Remake
While graphically demanding, the Switch 2 might handle Capcom's acclaimed Resident Evil 4 Remake. Its inclusion would demonstrate the console's power and offer a nostalgic return to Nintendo for a horror classic.
Doom: The Dark Ages
A long shot, but with previous Doom titles on Switch and Microsoft's cross-platform strategy, Doom: The Dark Ages on Switch 2 is plausible. A launch-day release would be a bold move.
The Haunted Chocolatier
Following the success of Stardew Valley, ConcernedApe's The Haunted Chocolatier is a strong candidate. While a launch-day release is uncertain, its inclusion would be a significant win for indie gaming.
Earthblade
A sequel to the acclaimed Celeste, Earthblade's 2D explor-action gameplay and beautiful pixel art could be a perfect fit for the Switch 2. A 2025 release window makes a launch-day appearance possible.
