Shrek 5 has unveiled its new cast and a teaser trailer, prompting even Movie Sonic to offer design advice.
In a humorous TikTok video, the official Sonic Movie account shared a "how-to" guide for green ogres, showcasing Sonic's own transformation from his initially criticized live-action design to his much-improved redesign.

IGN's exclusive first look at the 2018 live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie generated mixed reactions, with fans focusing on the character's unusual teeth, physique, small eyes, and human-like fingers. Director Jeff Fowler subsequently redesigned the character, resulting in a significantly more positive reception.
While the response to Shrek's new look isn't as intensely negative as Sonic's initial design, Sonic's playful advice amused fans. Comments included, "You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," and "No way they actually posted this" accompanied by a crying emoji.
Initially announced in 2016, Shrek 5's development was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, in 2023, along with plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures shifted Shrek 5's release date to December 23, 2026, moving it from the original slot occupied by Minions: The Rise of Gru.
