Hollow Knight: Silksong is Still in Development, Confirms Team Cherry
Recent speculation surrounding a cryptic cake-related profile picture change by a Hollow Knight co-creator has been cleared up. While the cake image proved unrelated to a Silksong announcement, Team Cherry’s Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, has confirmed the game's ongoing development and eventual release. He responded directly to fan concerns on X (formerly Twitter), reassuring players that "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This is the first official update on Silksong's status in over a year and a half.
A Six-Year Journey
Initially revealed in February 2019 with a planned release in the first half of 2023, Silksong was delayed in May 2023 due to its expanded scope and the team's commitment to quality. Team Cherry previously highlighted Silksong's features, including a new kingdom, nearly 150 new enemies, and a challenging "Silk Soul" mode. While the recent confirmation is welcome news, the nearly six-year wait has understandably led to mixed reactions from fans, ranging from enthusiastic support to growing impatience.
What We Know So Far
Hollow Knight: Silksong will follow Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on a perilous journey to a new kingdom. The game is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. While a release date remains unannounced, Team Cherry's confirmation offers a renewed sense of hope for fans eagerly awaiting this highly anticipated sequel. Stay tuned for further updates!
