The first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, offering players an early glimpse into the much-anticipated Update 7.0 and its accompanying patch notes. In a recent community post, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive revealed that the preliminary patch notes for the PTS version encompass "most" of the features expected in the 7.0 update. However, they cautioned that the final version of the patch notes might differ as the development team continues to refine and fix bugs.

For PC players participating in the PTS, there's a wealth of new content to explore, as this update is not yet available on consoles. Update 7.0 introduces a new PvE mission titled Exfiltration, along with a new secondary weapon, the Inferno Pistol, available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes. Additionally, players can now engage with endgame-focused prestige ranks in PvE and enjoy the convenience of private PvP lobbies.

Fans of customization will find much to celebrate in Update 7.0. New colors such as Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue are added, along with the ability to recolor Bulwark cloth and hands. PvP customization rewards have been boosted by 50%. Exclusive to the PTS, players can also unlock an Imperial Fists Champion skin for the Tactical class and a Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.

The update also brings significant balance changes, expanding the weapon arsenal in PvE. This means all classes now have more options, with the Assault class notably gaining access to the Power Sword without the need for mods. Players are encouraged to review the patch notes for detailed adjustments to the game's extensive weapon lineup.

A notable gameplay improvement addresses the issue of griefing on the Inferno Operation. Now, if a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage, other players will be automatically teleported there after a set time, receiving a notification 1:30 before the teleportation, and then being moved 15 seconds later. This change aims to prevent players from stalling progress by remaining outside the assembly area.

The update also enhances the Obelisk operation with new voiceovers to clarify objectives during the final gameplay sequence. Several bugs have been addressed, including issues with the Occulus Bolt Carbine, Multi-Melta, and various class perks, ensuring a smoother and more balanced gameplay experience.

As the Space Marine 2 community eagerly anticipates these changes, the developers have also teased the upcoming Horde mode and addressed concerns about live service elements and 'FOMO' community events. With these updates and fixes, players can look forward to an enriched and more engaging experience in the grim darkness of the far future.
