Longvinter Exits Early Access on Steam: PC

After three years of dedicated development, incorporating player feedback, and diligently squashing bugs, Longvinter has triumphantly exited early access on Steam with the launch of its much-anticipated version 1.0. The developers have proudly announced this significant milestone, unveiling a suite of updates that promise to rejuvenate the gaming experience for both newcomers and seasoned veterans alike.

The cornerstone of this update is the exciting addition of oil rigs scattered throughout the archipelago. Players now have the opportunity to extract oil, refine it into fuel, and engage in thrilling battles against mercenaries from the notorious Longvinter Resources Inc. (LRI), who control crucial supply lines. Beyond these core mechanics, the game introduces new events that add layers of excitement, such as helicopter crashes that provide tactical gear and an underground arena where players can battle for valuable rewards every hour.

The game's world has been enriched with a diverse array of new wildlife, including lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats, all of which players can now tame as mounts. The update also brings a plethora of new items to the table, such as hats that offer buffs, combat vests, an assortment of weapons and explosives, new kitchen recipes, and a range of interactive objects for building and decorating. These include oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and defensive turrets. Moreover, significant adjustments have been made to weapon balance to enhance gameplay dynamics.

Looking forward, the upcoming 1.1 update promises to introduce farming mechanics, a revamped tutorial tailored for beginners, the ability to rent apartments, and the creation of shared communities. In addition to these features, the developers have confirmed that Longvinter will expand its horizons to PlayStation in 2026, offering a broader audience the chance to dive into its immersive world.
