Lies of P Overture DLC Updates
Open To Any Sort of Considerations
Lies of P Director Choi Ji-Won was invigorated after participating in Elden Ring: Nightreign's network test. This experience has opened his mind to new possibilities for future projects. At the 2025 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Choi shared with Eurogamer his thoughts on the evolution of the Souls genre. His admiration for FromSoftware games is evident in the design of Lies of P.
Reflecting on Elden Ring: Nightreign, Choi remarked, "The test was incredibly refreshing and innovative. It's clear that FromSoftware continues to push the boundaries of their creativity and vision, which has inspired me to ensure that Overture delivers the best possible experience."
This newfound inspiration has led Choi to consider new genres, stating, "We are definitely open to any sort of consideration for our future endeavors, including the possibility of a multiplayer game."
Despite his appreciation for FromSoftware's work, Choi emphasized during a Games Radar+ interview at GDC 2025 that his inspirations are diverse. He explained, "I draw inspiration from a wide range of games. This variety helps me shape the unique Lies of P experience, blending elements from many different sources to create something special for our fans."
Overture Takes 15-20 Hours for Experienced Players
Choi disclosed that the Overture DLC is expected to take experienced players 15-20 hours to complete. This expansion is packed with new bosses and content that the developers were eager to include but couldn't fit into the initial release. Choi described the development process, saying, "Overture isn't just an add-on; it's deeply connected to the base game. Creating this expansion felt like completing the Lies of P experience, which was both challenging and rewarding."
Set as a prequel, Overture takes players back to the haunting final days of Krat, following a legendary Stalker. The DLC incorporates new ideas, player feedback, and unused concepts that were initially left out due to development constraints. Choi likened Overture to a Director's Cut, serving as the final chapter of the game.
He elaborated, "When we launched the base game, we had to prioritize quality, which meant we couldn't include everything we wanted. The support from our community after the release pushed us to deliver all these elements in the expansion."
Overture is Not Connected to the Final Cutscene of the Base Game
In an interview with IGN at the 2025 GDC, Choi clarified that the Overture DLC does not connect directly to the base game's final cutscene. While the end of the base game hinted at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe, Overture stands on its own.
Choi confirmed in a November 2023 Director's Letter that a sequel to Lies of P is in the works, hinting that the final cutscene might be related to this future project. However, details about Lies of P 2 remain scarce.
He assured fans, "When we're ready to share news or media about future projects, you'll know we are fully prepared. Our focus remains on delivering quality despite all pressures."
Choi encouraged fans to revisit the base game, noting that it contains many hints about the content of the upcoming DLC. He also mentioned being impressed by some of the fan theories circulating online.
