Capcom has announced an extension to the Monster Hunter Wilds beta following a 24-hour outage of the PlayStation Network (PSN) that disrupted the previous testing session. The PSN experienced an "operational issue" starting around 3pm PT on Friday, February 7, and was not restored until approximately 24 hours later. In response to the outage, Sony provided PlayStation Plus members with an additional five days of service to compensate for the inconvenience.
During the PSN downtime, PlayStation users were unable to access online games and even encountered issues with single-player games requiring server authentication or a constant internet connection. This significantly impacted the second beta of Monster Hunter Wilds, which was scheduled to run from Thursday, February 6 to Sunday, February 9. As a result, Capcom has extended the next beta session by 24 hours. The new session will now begin on Thursday, February 13, at 7pm PT / 3am GMT on February 14, and will conclude on Monday, February 17, at 6:59pm PT / 2:59am GMT on February 18, instead of the original end date of Sunday, February 16.
During this extended period, participants will still be eligible to earn the participation bonuses that will be available in the full version of the game, as confirmed by Capcom. Despite the disruption, players were able to engage with Monster Hunter Wilds' major challenge, a formidable new adversary named Arkveld.
Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch officially on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For more detailed insights into Capcom's latest hunting adventure, check out our IGN First coverage, including our Monster Hunter Wilds Final Preview.
