Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege X: A Major Update, Not a New Game
Ubisoft recently unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, not as a new game, but as a significant upgrade to the existing Rainbow Six Siege. This major overhaul, announced February 17th, 2025, promises "new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel, and major upgrades all around."
March 2025 Showcase:
A dedicated showcase is planned for March 13th, 2025, at 10:00 am PDT / 1:00 pm EDT in Atlanta, Georgia. This event will offer an in-depth look at the changes coming with Siege X. Limited in-person tickets ($10 USD, including a shirt and in-game cosmetic pack) are available to US and Canadian residents aged 18+ with unbanned Rainbow Six Siege accounts. A VIP package giveaway (hotel, flight, event entry) is also running for US and Canadian residents.
10th Anniversary & Season 1: Operation Prep Phase:
Coinciding with Rainbow Six Siege's 10th anniversary (December 1st, 2015 – December 1st, 2025), Season 1, titled "Operation Prep Phase," launches March 4th, 2025. This season introduces:
- New Operator: Aurora, with deployable bulletproof doors.
- New Elite Skin: For operator Aruni.
- New Reputation System: Rewarding positive and penalizing negative player behavior.
While the showcase will detail the Siege X upgrades, it's likely these major changes will be implemented on live servers after the showcase. The longevity of the Rainbow Six franchise is set to be extended with this ambitious update.
