"R.E.P.O.: Guide to Monsters - Kill or Escape"

*R.E.P.O.* has taken the streaming community by storm in 2025, captivating audiences with its unique horror elements and diverse array of monsters. Each creature in the game comes with its own set of characteristics and strategies for dealing with them. Here’s a comprehensive guide to all the monsters you'll encounter in *R.E.P.O.* and how to effectively handle each one.

All Monsters in R.E.P.O.

Animal

Threat Level: Low

The Animal is a swift creature but poses minimal danger. It inflicts very little damage and won't retaliate when attacked, making it an easy target to eliminate.

Apex Predator (Duck)

Threat Level: Low

The Apex Predator, or Duck, is harmless unless provoked. If you choose to take it down for some quick cash, the most effective method is to lead it to the extraction zone and crush it using the piston.

Bang

Threat Level: Medium

True to its name, the Bang is an explosive enemy that behaves like a living grenade. It will rush and explode upon spotting you or if attacked. You can neutralize it by picking it up and throwing it into water, lava, or acid. Additionally, Bangs can be used strategically to damage other monsters.

Bowtie

Threat Level: Low

When a Bowtie spots you, it emits a scream that immobilizes you, preventing movement and pushing you back. Though the scream itself is harmless, it can lead you into hazardous objects. Bowties are slow and defenseless during their scream, making them easy to attack, especially when approached stealthily.

Chef

Threat Level: Medium

The Chef's attacks are predictable. It jumps and slashes with its knives upon sighting you. Dodging its attack causes it to lose balance momentarily, providing a window for counterattacks.

Clown

Threat Level: High

One of the more formidable foes in R.E.P.O., the Clown uses a height-adjusting laser beam and a melee charge to attack. After firing its laser, it becomes stunned for a few seconds, offering a brief opportunity for escape or retaliation.

Gnome

Threat Level: Low

Gnomes move in groups and focus on destroying your loot rather than attacking you directly. They are weak and can be easily dispatched by picking them up and slamming them against a wall or the floor.

Headman

Threat Level: Low

The Headman, a floating head, is relatively harmless. It only becomes aggressive when exposed to light, otherwise leaving players undisturbed.

Hidden

Threat Level: Medium

Appearing as a cloud of black smoke, the Hidden can stun you and make you drop your items. It's challenging to spot and kill, so it's often wiser to hide when you sense its presence, especially as it can drag you towards other enemies.

Huntsman

Threat Level: Medium

The Huntsman, despite being blind, reacts to sounds by firing a shotgun that can kill instantly at close range. It follows a predictable patrol route, making it easier to avoid than to confront.

Mentalist

Threat Level: Medium

The Mentalist, an alien-like entity, creates an anti-gravity field upon spotting players, causing nearby objects and players to levitate before slamming them down. It can teleport, making it hard to escape, but it's vulnerable to melee attacks and can be rescued by other players from its gravity field.

Reaper

Threat Level: Medium

The Reaper, while strong, is slow and deaf, making it easy to avoid. It doesn't chase far, and the best way to take it down is with ranged weapons.

Robe

Threat Level: High

Robe is a formidable and fast monster that chases players relentlessly. Direct eye contact causes it to frenzy and increase its speed. With high HP, it's better to avoid it by not looking at it and hiding until it moves on.

Rugrat

Threat Level: Low

Rugrat looks harmless and usually is, scavenging for items to throw at players. It flees when empty-handed. It takes a group effort to lift and smash it against a wall to kill it, so it's often best to steer clear.

Spewer

Threat Level: Medium

The Spewer, resembling a tadpole, chases players and vomits on them, which can cause players to vomit and damage nearby entities. Shaking it off is the best way to make it retreat.

Shadow Child

Threat Level: Low

Despite its eerie appearance, the Shadow Child is not a significant threat. Its low HP makes it vulnerable to most attacks, often allowing for a one-hit kill.

Trudge

Threat Level: High

Trudge, like the Reaper, is deadly but slow. It pulls players towards it before delivering a potentially lethal mace strike. It's best to hide and wait for it to leave, as killing it requires substantial resources and time.

Upscream

Threat Level: Medium

Upscreams travel in groups and can throw players back, causing damage and stun. They are susceptible to most attacks, but the tranq gun is particularly effective, allowing you to stun, grab, and slam them against a surface.
