The eagerly awaited sequel, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, has encountered yet another delay, with its release now scheduled for October 2025. This latest postponement, announced subtly in a recent game update video from publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room, shifts the release from the previously planned first half of 2025. Despite the delay, there's a silver lining: the game is now complete.
"The status of the game right now is that the game is done," stated Marco Behrmann, the Executive Producer of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. "We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases."
While the news of another delay may be disheartening for fans who have followed the game's tumultuous journey, the update video brings some positive developments. The Chinese Room has enriched the game with additional content, deeper narrative, and enhanced character development. They've also teased that the character Fabien will have an "evolved role" in the storyline. However, the frequency of updates will decrease, as announced on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 X/Twitter page.
The path to this release has been fraught with challenges. Initially unveiled in 2019 by developer Hardsuit Labs with a planned launch in Q1 2020, the game faced its first delay to late 2020. Subsequent delays pushed the release to 2021, accompanied by layoffs at Hardsuit Labs in March 2021. A significant shift occurred in 2023 when The Chinese Room took over development from Hardsuit Labs, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, after one more delay, fans are set to experience Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in October 2025.
Whether the sequel to the 2004 cult-classic will finally satisfy fans this fall remains to be seen, but The Chinese Room appears optimistic. Meanwhile, Paradox Interactive has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 achieve a successful launch, a different developer might take on the challenge of creating Bloodlines 3.
