A purported remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, developed by Virtuos Studio using Unreal Engine 5, has surfaced online. Details, reportedly from an anonymous developer's portfolio, suggest a significant departure from the original. The project is not a simple remaster, but a complete reimagining of the game.
The remake will reportedly overhaul core mechanics. Expect changes to stamina management, stealth mechanics, attack blocking (inspired by Soulslike games to address the original's perceived shortcomings), archery, damage reactions, and the user interface. The damage system will be reworked to include visible impact reactions, and the stamina system will be more intuitive. The UI and archery mechanics will also receive modernizations.
While initially rumored to be a remaster (as hinted at in leaked Microsoft documents), MP1st's reporting suggests the project expanded into a full remake. Sources have confirmed the remake will not be revealed during the upcoming Developer_Direct, but potential release this year is rumored.
