Josef Fares, the visionary head of Hazelight Studios, recently provided an exciting update on their upcoming game, Split Fiction, during an interview with MinnMax. Fares reiterated Hazelight's steadfast commitment to steering clear of live-service models and microtransactions, emphasizing their dedication to crafting rich gaming experiences. He firmly stated, "We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."
In the interview, Fares shared that Split Fiction offers a core narrative experience lasting approximately 12-14 hours, closely mirroring the runtime of their previous hit, It Takes Two. For players seeking more, optional missions and additional content can extend the gameplay up to 16-17 hours.
While Hazelight is renowned for its cooperative gameplay titles, Fares hinted at the potential for exploring single-player games in the future. He also revealed that the budget for Split Fiction is twice that of It Takes Two. Despite the increased investment, Hazelight will not release any post-launch DLC, ensuring that all features are available to players from the game's launch.
Split Fiction is set to launch globally on March 6th, and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
